Baptism of fire for young Americans in Italy

Tristan Charboneau and Marshal Weltin, the two young Americans who contest the FIM EMX250 European Championship for Bud Racing Monster Energy Kawasaki, faced a baptism of fire in the series opener.

Neither of the two youngsters, whose previous racing experience has been in the USA, are used to the European flying lap qualification system and they will inevitably need some time to acquaint themselves. However both riders transferred to race day and each showed flashes of good speed  to record a top eleventh placed finish at Pietramurata in northern Italy. Charboneau placed ninth in the first moto while Weltin was eleventh in race two after being eliminated at the opening corner of race one.
Stephen Rubini of the Monster Energy Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team did not settle into a rhythm in either race to score just five points.
