Kawasaki to Exhibit "CORLEO" Robotic Multi-legged Vehicle at EICMA

Kawasaki Motors Europe has announced that it will exhibit a full-scale mock-up of "CORLEO", a Robotic Multi-legged Vehicle (RMV), at the annual EICMA international motorcycle show in Milan.

CORLEO will be on display on Kawasaki’s booth N46 in Hall 11 from 5 to 8 November, where visitors will be able to experience the physical dimensions of the full-scale mock-up for themselves.

Although Kawasaki’s booth primarily showcases its new and current two-wheeled models, EICMA also provides an ideal platform to share other exciting Kawasaki research and development projects, such as CORLEO.

CORLEO is a new type of personal mobility vehicle. It combines the off-road performance made possible by four-legged robotics with the manoeuvrability and stability Kawasaki has cultivated through over half a century of innovative motorcycle technology and manufacture. Power comes from a 150cc hydrogen engine that generates electricity, with the hydrogen stored in canisters at the rear of the vehicle.

The vehicle features intuitive operation through rider weight-shift inputs, much like horseback riding. A core goal has been a vehicle that offers exceptional terrain-handling performance, stability, and the joy of control – something that only the Kawasaki Group, with its expertise in both robotics and motorcycles, could propose.

Kawasaki will also develop a CORLEO navigation system that detects weather, temperature, surface conditions, and even the presence of wildlife, guiding users to safe routes. The service will be available on CORLEO’s instrument panel as well as through various smart devices.

This "SAFE ADVENTURE" concept, which aims to let everyone enjoy mountainous areas safely and in harmony with nature, aligns with all three focus fields of the Group Vision 2030 philosophy being promoted by the Kawasaki Group:

- Safe and Secure Remotely Connected Society

- Near-Future Mobility

- Energy & Environmental Solutions

It is hoped that CORLEO will offer a glimpse of a society where hydrogen-powered mobility is a more familiar part of everyday life.

The project is led by Kawasaki’s SAFE ADVENTURE Business Development Team, which reports directly to the President of Kawasaki Heavy Industries – an indication of CORLEO’s significance. Full commercialisation is targeted for around 2035.

Managing Director of Kawasaki Motors Europe, Mr Shigemi Tanaka, commented:

“Kawasaki is at the forefront of many fields of endeavour and research. CORLEO is one example not only of our unique company-wide depth of technical, industrial and environmental experience, but also of our drive towards a carbon-neutral future – one that embraces personal freedom through the SAFE ADVENTURE concept. We thank our colleagues from Kawasaki Motors Italy, who are hosting the booth and have made this display at EICMA possible. We hope that, along with viewing all our new 2027 and current motorcycle models, visitors will be as fascinated and energised by CORLEO as we are.”
