Augmenting what will become a fourteen-strong Kawasaki personal watercraft range in Europe for 2027, the SX-X 160 makes a much-anticipated debut. A fixed-handlebar solo machine, the SX-X 160 takes its place as one of two solo models for the coming season.

In 1986, Kawasaki introduced the JET SKI X-2, a stand-up PWC with a short hull and fixed handlebar that grew in popularity thanks to its rider-friendly handling and the fun it offered. The SX-X 160 follows in its footsteps.

Traditional stand-up PWCs require the rider to shift their weight forwards, backwards and from side to side to corner. What the SX-X 160 delivers, however, is a fixed-handlebar steering arrangement that makes steering simpler, yet still engaging and extremely enjoyable.

This arrangement is perfect for riders in search of the classic fixed-handlebar style, those wanting to try fixed-handlebar riding for the first time, or those interested in stand-up PWCs who may not be comfortable riding a traditional stand-up watercraft.

In terms of styling, the engine hood’s sleek, flowing lines are distinctly Kawasaki, while the smoothly integrated handlebar creates a seamless silhouette, and its MX style accentuates the sporty looks.

The naturally aspirated, liquid-cooled 1,498 cm³ in-line four-cylinder marine engine delivers massive power for acceleration-induced thrills. Yet, being a four-stroke, it delivers that power in a smooth, manageable way. Meanwhile, the race-developed hull offers agile handling, complemented by a high level of stability. 

The SX-X 160 also boasts a unique riding position: its fixed-handlebar setup allows riders to turn and control the watercraft from a central position, which makes for accurate and sporty handling.

For novice riders, the KSS (Kawasaki Smart Steering) system provides assistance by detecting the rider’s steering input and the speed of operation, then automatically increasing engine speed to provide additional thrust. The SX-X 160 also features the Kawasaki Splash Deflector (KSD), a lateral strip on the forward section of the hull that reduces water splash, especially at speed and in rough water.

Standing up, sitting down – and all points in between – Kawasaki has a JET SKI watercraft in its 2027 European range for every type of rider and a vast range of uses. From 1 October 2026, buyers also have the added reassurance of a new three-year manufacturer warranty, which covers the entire 2027 range plus brand-new JET SKI models already in stock at authorised Kawasaki dealers. Adding the SX-X 160 to the mix will only increase that incredible breadth of choice further still.
