Kawasaki Hybrid Range Named Innovation of the Year 2024 by MCN

One of the world’s leading two-wheel publications, Motorcycle News, has named the Kawasaki Hybrid range its ‘Innovation of the Year’ in its annual MCN Awards.

Unveiled at EICMA last year, the Kawasaki Z 7 Hybrid and Ninja 7 Hybrid machines, the world’s first strong hybrid bikes, have captured the imagination of riders worldwide. Equipped with a 451cc parallel twin, water-cooled four-stroke engine – plus an electric “traction” motor rated at a maximum of 9kw - the innovative new bike offers a new riding experience, providing the acceleration of a 1,000cc-class supersport model with fuel economy on par with the 250cc class plus the unique option to ride all-electric, all-internal combustion or a combination of the two.

This week, the UK’s biggest motorcycle publication, Motorcycle News, named the Hybrid range the winner of its ‘Innovation of the Year’ category in the prestigious MCN Awards. Summing up the award win, the publication said:

“That’s why Kawasaki aced the Innovation category: being brave enough to put a unique concept straight into production and doing it well to boot.”

This week also saw global superstar DJ Carl Cox enjoy a ride on the Z 7 Hybrid around his home in the UK. The renowned dance music pioneer is currently on tour with his all-new Hybrid Show, which blends a traditional DJ set with live electronic music, so it was the perfect opportunity to try the world’s first hybrid bike and combine his two passions. Visitors to his show in London next month may well spot the Z 7 Hybrid up close, as Carl will be bringing it to the iconic Camden Roundhouse, on September 8th.

Ross Burridge, Head of Marketing & Racing Department:

“We are honoured to be named as the winner of the Innovation of the Year category. The MCN Awards are one of the most prestigious two-wheel recognitions in the UK, and we’re thrilled to top this exciting category with the hybrid range.

At a time when alternative fuel options are incredibly important, the Hybrid range is an important step forward for a cleaner, greener world, and the feedback we’ve received from riders and journalists alike has been fantastic.”
